Set to come to the big screen a little later this year, A Star Is Born will see Bradley Cooper make his directorial debut, with the actor also stepping into the co-leading role of Jackson Maine in the flick, alongside Lady Gaga in her first leading role in a major motion picture, as Ally. This week, the very first trailer for the movie has been released, showcasing some of the gorgeous vocal performances and compelling story we can expect to see upon release. Reviving the original tragic love story told in A Star Is Born was going to be a challenge for anybody brave enough to take it on, but it looks as if Cooper has done a brilliant job from what we can see so far.
In the film, Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers struggling artist Ally, and quickly falls in love with her. Though she’s down on her luck and ready to give up on her dream to make it big as a performer, she’s coaxed into the spotlight by Jackson and sees her career suddenly go from strength to strength.
Behind-the-scenes however, her relationship with Jackson is one that gets put through the mill, as the veteran singer battles internal demons and struggles.
Also starring Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Chappelle, and Sam Elliott, A Star Is Born will include original songs written by both Gaga and Cooper, with a handful of other A-list artists involved in the creative process, including Mark Ronson, Lukas Nelson, and Jason Isbell.
Cooper serves as a producer on the film alongside Bill Gerber, Jon Peters, Todd Phillips and Lynette Howell Taylor, whilst Ravi Mehta, Basil Iwanyk, Niija Kuykendall, Sue Kroll, Heather Parry and Michael Rapino are all executive producers. Cooper co-wrote the screenplay with Will Fetters and Eric Roth.
A Star Is Born comes to cinemas across the UK on October 5, 2018.
