The teaser offers a fresh look at Buzz in his forthcoming feature, with Chris Evans (Marvel Universe) now playing the iconic hero we first met back in 1995 in the first Toy Story movie, with the most recent instalment, Toy Story 4, coming out in 2019.

Alongside Evans, the cast includes Taika Waititi, Keke Palmer, James Brolin, Uzo Aduba, and Efren Ramirez.

Buzz Lightyear is a Space Ranger (or so he believes for a short time in the Toy Story movies), who was voiced by Tim Allen. A spinoff series called Buzz Lightyear of Star Command was released in 2000, which consisted of two seasons, in which Patrick Warburton voiced the legendary Ranger.

The series dug a little deeper into Buzz’s time with Star Command as he and his team fought the evil Emperor Zurg.

This year (2022), however, Buzz will feature in his first solo film that focuses on his time as a Space Ranger.

Lightyear will tell the origin story of the character that inspired the Buzz Lightyear action figures that we see in the Toy Story movies, and may explain why, in 1995’s Toy Story, Buzz believes himself to be a genuine Space Ranger.

The upcoming film is also a film within a film, as it details the life of the iconic toy; it is a movie that Andy (John Morris), Buzz and Woody’s (Tom Hanks) owner, would be able to watch, making it an in-universe feature.

The new trailer, released via Twitter only a few hours ago on Disney’s account, sees a brand new perspective on the upcoming film.

Watch the new trailer below:

We’re treated to a trailer that highlights more of Evan’s speaking scenes in the film, as we haven’t heard much of that as of yet. He seems perfect for the role of Buzz, and will no doubt live up to the legend.

We are also introduced to a new character in the form of Sox (Peter Sohn), a robotic ginger and white cat who has the job of keeping Buzz company. Sox also seems to be a character who will bring some comedic relief to the film as and when situations become a little intense.

Lightyear is set to land in cinemas in June 17th, 2022.

I cannot wait to see this movie. I think it will be interesting to see, and exciting to watch Buzz’s origin story.

The visuals of this film look amazing, and the animation style is on point, as it always is with Disney.

It will be great to see Evans as Lightyear, and also brilliant to hear the likes of Taika Waititi in the feature, also.
