Marc Webb says he is going to 'embrace the spectacle' of THe Amazing Spider Man 2.

Webb is back in the director's chair for the second Spider Man film, which promises to be bigger than the 2012 movie.

Webb says he wants the movie to be 'fantastic' and is not afraid of really pushing the boat out.

Speaking to the audience at South by Southwest, the director said: "I'm going to embrace the spectacle. There was a moment deep in the [first film's] post-production process where a giant lizard smashed through a wall chasing a boy-man in a unitard and I said, 'This is not grounded.

"I'm not going to be beholden to smallness. I want it to be fantastic, to be big, to command and express that feeling when you're a kid and reading the comics.' I didn't want to hide or shy away from that."

The Amazing Spider Man 2 comes two years after the success of the reboot in 2012. Andrew Garfield will reprise the role of Peter Parker in one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Webb has brought together a great cast as Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DaHaan, Sally Field and Paul Giamatti are all set to star.

The Amazing Spider Man 2 is released 18th April.
