It is great to see when movie studios get along and appreciate what other have achieved - and that is exactly what Marvel have done by congratulating Jurassic World on their huge box office success this weekend.

Jurassic World opened with a global record of $511 million this weekend - which already makes it the fifth highest grossing film of the year and looks set become the third film to break $1 billion in 2015.

Originally, it looked like Jurassic World has missed out on surpassing the domestic record of $207 set by Avengers Assemble in 2012 - but they have just pipped it with $208.8 million.

Kevin Feige took to Twitter to congratulate Jurassic World saying: "Congrats Mr. Spielberg @UniversalPics @Legendary @LeDoctor @colintrevorrow and especially @prattprattpratt"

Chris Pratt is, of course, part of the Marvel family and this is the second consecutive summer where he has enjoyed huge box office success - last year he was riding high as Guardians of the Galaxy became both a critical and commercial smash.

Jurassic World looks set to follow in the footsteps of Fast & Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron by surpassing the $1 billion barrier - but will it challenge Fast 7 for the title 'highest grossing movie of the year?' I guess we are going to have to wait and see.

Jurassic World is out now.
