The 45-year-old actor has returned to the role of the special agent for a fourth time for new movie 'Jason Bourne' following a nine-year break.

Damon is thrilled to be back as Bourne and is open to making more movies in the future but if the franchise was rebooted he doesn't see any reason why an actress couldn't take on the character originally created by novelist Robert Ludlum.

Speaking to 'This Morning', he said: "I'm getting a little long in the tooth to do Jason Bourne, so when they do reboot it of course it can be a woman."

Damon attended the European premiere of the action thriller at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on Monday night (11.07.17) with his wife Luciana Barroso.

He was joined on the red carpet by his co-stars Alicia Vikander, Riz Ahmed and Julia Stiles and director Paul Greengrass.

In the movie there is a high-octane car chase through Las Vegas Boulevard and Damon revealed 170 vehicles were destroyed when they shot the sequence.

He revealed: "We smashed 170 cars, that's right, we totalled 170 cars!

"It's bigger than anything we've done but it has this same kind of visceral experience that these 'Bourne' car chases have been known for. Hopefully it's the best one yet."

Damon has also admitted he found it harder to do the stunts for this movie compared to when he started out in the role in his 20s.

He said: "It's difficult when you're 45 compared to when you're 29, but you still have to run as fast as you can. That part was a challenge but to get to revisit the people was wonderful."
