Florence Foster Jenkins

You can't beat a bit of Meryl Streep on the big screen and she features in the first image for upcoming movie Florence Foster Jenkins.

Streep is set to take on the title role in the film, and features in the image alongside Hugh Grant - who will take on the role of her partner St Clair Bayfield in the film

Florence Foster Jenkins will see Stephen Frears back in the director's chair for his first movie since the critical and commercial success of Philomena back in 2013.

Filming is currently underway on the project, which has been penned by Nicholas Martin, as Frears returns to the biopic genre.

Frears has brought us movies such as Tamara Drew, Cheri, and The Queen during his career, but this will be the first time that he has teamed up with Streep.

Florence Foster Jenkins is the true story of the legendary New York heiress and socialite who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great opera singer. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful.

Her "husband" and manager, St Clair Bayfield, an aristocratic English actor, was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944, St Clair knew he faced his greatest challenge.

Streep and Grant will take on the film's central roles and are joined on the cast list by Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Helberg, and Nina Arianda.
