Mia Wasikowska has revealed the Nicole Kidman took her under her wing when they were working on movie Stoker.

The pair play mother and daughter in the new thriller – a film which sees the two actresses work together for the very first time.

Wasikowska said that the Oscar winning actress gave her some great advice and went on to call Kidman ‘the ultimate role model’

Speaking to Metro the actress said: "She really took me under her wing and was really giving of her experiences of growing up in movies.

"Especially for me, being a young actor coming from Australia, she's the ultimate role model "She said something that was really great, which was: forget about the people (crew) in the moment that you're filming something, because the moment passes - what's caught on cameras stays around for a lot longer."

Stoker is the first English speaking movie for director Park Chan-wook and also stars British actor Matthew Goode.

Stoker marks the first big screen outing for the actress in 2013 but we are going to be seeing plenty of her as she is set to star in The Double, Tracks and Only Lovers Left Alive throughout the next year.

Stoker is released 1st March
