Monsters University

Monsters University has toppled Despicable Me 2 from the top of the UK box office.

It is the first time that we have seen Mike and Sulley on the big screen since the characters were introduced to us back in 2001.

The film took over £3.4 million in it's opening weekend to end the two week reign of Despicable Me 2.

The film slipped just a single place to number two - but did face a lot of competition from Pacific Rim.

In the end the Guillermo Del Toro film was unable to claim the number two spot and had to settle for third.

Now You See Me and The Internship rounded off the top five as both movies fell two places.

World War Z also fell two places as it dropped out of the top five down to six. Man of Steel and This Is The End were also down two at seven and eight.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was the third and final new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at nine.

The Bling Ring was down three as the Sofia Coppola directed film completed the top ten.
