It's been a very exciting week in the world of movies! We’ve had casting news revealed whilst Zack Snyder is giving fans exactly what they want. Meanwhile over at Paramount+, they’ve got a horror movie on the way! All this and much more in our Movie News Roundup!

Army of the Dead film will reveal 15-minute video ahead of Netflix release

Zack Snyder has teased that, next week, the first 15 minutes of his new film for Netflix will be shown, over a week ahead of the release date.

Army of the Dead will hit Netflix on May 21st this year (2021), and fans are more than excited to see it. The movie stars Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro and more; we will follow this group as they head into the only place on Earth infected with zombies, in order to steal a big amount of cash.

While this zombie-infested movie is a big change from his version of Justice League (2021), Snyder will be returning to his roots as Dawn of the Dead (2004) was the movie that evidentially lifted him to fame.

According to the director, the first 15 minutes of the feature will be revealed during a YouTube livestreaming event on May 13th at 10am PT, and 1pm ET.

Black Panther 2 synopsis revealed

The sequel to the 2018 Marvel film Black Panther, starring the late Chadwick Boseman, has been gaining momentum recently as the logo and new title have already been revealed.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the much-anticipated sequel, and Marvel haven’t stopped there; we now have a synopsis of the upcoming film.

While details of the movie are scarce, we do know that filming is set to begin this summer, and the plot is as follows: Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film. Written and directed by Ryan Coolger… the film will be released on July 8th, 2022.

As you may expect, that didn’t give us much to go on. However, the fact that Marvel will not be replacing Boseman and are choosing to honour both the actor and character, is a wonderful gesture and leaves us wondering, who will be Black Panther now?

John David Washington cast in Rogue One director’s new movie

Golden Globe-nominated actor John Washington will star in Gareth Edwards’ (director of Rogue One) new film.

The feature, entitled True Love, is described as a sci-fi tale set in the near-future. Little is known about the plot at the moment but the movie will be financed and produced by New Regency.

Washington has starred in many popular films as of late, including Tenet (2020) and 2018’s BlacKkKlansman.

In addition to this movie, Washington will also be starring in a new (unnamed) David Russell film alongside some big names, such as Margot Robbie, Rami Malek, Christian Bale, and Zoe Saldana.

Paramount+ plans to release Paranormal Activity 7 before the year is out

Paramount+ plans to add the latest instalment of the Paranormal Activity franchise onto their streaming service before the end of 2021.

After the disappointment of the 2014 spin off, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, the studio decided to wrap up the failing franchise with a film in 2015, titled Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.

In spite of this, Paramount are still going ahead with a seventh film, in attempts to revive the seemingly dead franchise.

Looking at the series’ history in regard to release dates, we could make an educated guess that this revival movie may land on the streaming service in October 2021, as many of the films before it had October release dates.

Joker 2 may be in development

The 2019 DC film Joker was phenomenal to say the least; fans went nuts for Joaquin Phoenix’s interpretation of the character. Arthur Fleck was the star of this show, and we followed him through his tormented life as he walked the path to become Joker.

Directed and produced by Todd Phillips, the movie, while based on the DC character The Joker, provided an alternate origin story for the famed villain.

While nothing official has been revealed, Phillips’ discussions with Warner Bros. seems to have yielded an indication that a sequel to the outstanding feature may be in the works.

Despite Joker’s intention to be a standalone film, we were left with a rather big cliffhanger; and since the film was adored by audiences and fans everywhere, it may have been inevitable that a second movie would occur.

If there is to be a sequel, we can all agree that it must be perfect. The same eerie and dangerous energy should be seen and, no doubt, Phoenix will do another incredible job as our Clown Prince of Crime.
