Following a leak by the cast members of The Suicide Squad themselves, the official new trailer for the upcoming DC project has been revealed ahead of its release in cinemas next month (July 2021). In it, we get a much closer look at what to expect from the anti-heroes when they hit the big screen.

Along with returning faces such as Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, come a whole host of new faces. Amongst them are Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, John Cena as Peacemaker, Sylvester Stallone as the voice of King Shark, Peter Capaldi as Thinker and Sean Gunn as Weasel.

We see all of those faces and more in the new teaser, which kicks off with the arrival of Bloodsport into the Suicide Squad following a threat by Waller; who is attacked by the villain but quickly convinces him to get on board or face the tragic consequences. The trailer also reveals exactly why Elba’s character is behind bars; he shot Superman with a kryptonite bullet and landed the Man of Steel in the ICU.

His mission and that of the rest of this collection of cons? To be armed heavily and dropped onto the remote, but enemy-infested island of Corto Maltese. On a search-and-destroy mission, the rogues gallery - kept in line only by Colonel Rick Flag - are having their every move tracked. If they go against Waller and Task Force X, they will die. If they stick to the Task Force’s goal, there’s still no promising they’ll make it out alive.

There's a reason they’ve been called The Suicide Squad, folks!

Directed by James Gunn (Guardians of The Galaxy) and also starring Flula Borg, Mikaela Hoover, Freddie Stroma, David Dastmalchian, Nathan Fillion, Alice Braga, Michael Rooker and Taika Waititi, we’re sure this film is going to be a feast for the eyes when it makes its cinematic debut.

The Suicide Squad comes to cinemas across the UK on July 30th, 2021 from Warner Bros. Pictures.
