The Kingsman franchise has wowed audiences since 2015, when Kingsman: The Secret Service was released and Taron Egerton took the lead role. Now, the third film in the series is set to show us the beginning of the service, as we see the origins of the incredible organisation in The King’s Man.

The first film followed Eggsy (Egerton), a working class nobody whose home life causes him daily struggles. Since his father died saving other Kingsmen on a mission, Eggsy and his mother have lived a rough life.

After being given a broach by Harry Hart (Colin Firth) when he was a child, to be used in emergencies, Eggsy uses it to get himself out of prison; this led him to meet Harry and begin his incredible journey to becoming a Kingsman agent.

Since then, we have seen Eggsy become a phenomenal character as he serves as a classic example of an underdog; Egerton’s character is a reminder than anyone can be anything.

This December, we will finally get to see the start of the Kingsman secret service. We’ve heard snippets of what the organisation has been through and when it was founded, but now we’ll get to witness first hand how the Kingsmen saved the world, before Eggsy did.

While Harry tells Eggsy the story of Kingsman, there is still a lot left to know. The trailer uses audio from the previous films over shots of the upcoming feature, to show that Harry’s lessons now have substance and a visual story behind them.

Director Matthew Vaughn is excited to show fans the foundation of Kingsman in this prequel, as we welcome new actors, new villains, and an exciting, fresh story.

The King’s Man follows Orlando Oxford (Ralph Fiennes) and his pupil Conrad (Harris Dickinson), as they are faced with some of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds. As the baddies, including Rasputin (Rhys Ifans), plan to wipe out millions, the Kingsmen must stop them before it’s too late.

The trailer shows that, despite the film being set during World War One, it still retains the recognisable elements instilled in the other films. We’re shown shots from the first and second movie, which are mirrored with clips from the upcoming prequel to show that this film is still part of the franchise, and will be a very significant story.

Joining Fiennes and Dickenson for the cast is Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance; a very impressive roster of actors.

The King’s Man will be in cinemas on December 22nd, 2021!
