Patrick Hughes is on board to direct the remake of The Raid.

The Raid - an Indonesian martial arts movie - hit the big screen back in 2012, and there has been talk of a remake since the second it was released.

Deadline.com has now reported that Hughes is the director to take this project forward.

Hughes made his feature film directorial debut with Red Hill and will be back in the director's chair this summer in The Expendables 3.

The script is being penned by 'Out Of The Furnace' writer Brad Ingelsby while original producer XYZ Films is also producing the new version, and Evans is executive producing.

The Raid was originally directed by Gareth Evans and starred Iko Uwais in the central role of police officer Rama.

The Raid 2 is set to his the big screen later this month, as Evans and Uwais return.

The remake will follow the original story of a SWAT team getting trapped inside a building run by the mob. However, no actors for the project have been announced.
