Peter O’Toole

Peter O’Toole

Peter O’Toole is set to star in Katherine of Alexandria.

O’Toole joins fellow Brits Joss Ackland, Steven Berkoff, and Edward Fox for the film, while Michael Redwood is in the director’s chair; Redwood also penned the screenplay for the movie.

The British independent project will tell the story of Katherine of Alexandria and her link to Constantine the Great.

Talking about the upcoming film, Redwood said: “My agenda was simple: painstaking research, to create an intelligent screenplay and to seek out Britain’s best performers for their unrivalled ability to help portray the story of this religious icon.

“The dialogue demanded some of the world’s most recognisable voices such as Peter O’Toole and Edward Fox, who were an inspiration to work with. Katherine’s voice also had to be most haunting in its delivery”

O’Toole will take on the role of Gallus in the film, as he continues to move between film and television projects.

The actor is also set to begin work on Mary, which will see him team up with director Alister Grierson. The movie will tell the story of Mary, Jesus’ mother, and will also star Ben Kingsley, Julia Ormond and Odeya Rush in the title role.

Katherine of Alexandria will be released next year.
