Saoirse Ronan has described Ryan Gosling as a ‘relaxed’ and ‘creative’ director.

Ronan has landed a role in Gosling’s directorial debut How To Catch A Monster, which is filming at the moment.

And the actress has revealed that Gosling is very open to ideas and opinions from the cast about their characters.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times the actress said: "It's different working with an actor as a director. So much of his approach is character-based, and he has a lot of respect for how we feel about them.

"If there's something we don't feel like doing, like, if my character doesn't feel like she would get in a car, and I tell him that, he'll rewrite the scene later. He's just so relaxed and very, very creative."

Gosling has penned the screenplay as well as being in the director’s chair and Matt Smith and Christina Hendricks join Ronan on the cast list.

And we will be seeing Ronan back on the big screen this week as she teams up with Gemma Arterton for Byzantium.

She has also completed work on Justin and the Knights of Valour, How I Live Now and The Grand Budapest Hotel.

The Oscar nominated actress has also been linked to the role of Scarlet Witch in Joss Whedon’s Avengers 2.

How To Catch A Monster will be released next year.
