There is so much going on this year (2022) in relation to movies and TV, such as news of delays for films like Super Mario Bros., and casting announcements for the Barbie movie. In film-related news, it has recently been announced by Sony that the third Into the Spider-Verse feature has its title.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is now the official title for the third instalment of the Spider-Verse franchise, as opposed to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Part Two, as many believed.

The film series began in 2018 with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which blew the minds of many Marvel fans. The movie was incredible, fun-loving and hilarious, and followed the story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore).

Miles must learn how to become Spider-Man after he is bitten by a radioactive spider, then Peter Parker (Jake Johnson) from his universe is killed.

However, after a technological disaster, the Multiverse is opened and other Spider-Folk, including Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) and Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), and a different version of Peter Parker (Chris Pine) come to Miles’ world.

The trailer for Across the Spider-Verse, the next Spider-Verse movie, sees Miles reunite with Gwen, which is a very exciting prospect. It also shows Miles’ Spider-Man fall into another universe with a different and unique animation style, and engage in combat with Spider-Man 2099.

With the first Spider-Verse feature being such a success, there is no doubt that the next two films will follow suit; although, since Across the Spider-Verse has been delayed by a whopping eight months, it might be a while until we get any significant news regarding the trilogy.

The next film in the series was set to release on October 7th, 2022, but has been unfortunately pushed back to June 2nd, 2023. Beyond the Spider-Verse will hit cinemas on March 29th, 2024, unless there are further delays.

While the official title may not seem to reveal much, it does suggest even more adventure for Miles and whoever may be joining him. We may see old and new characters alike, as well as yet another thrilling adventure.

Since Across the Spider-Verse releases first (and there is little information about that), it is unlikely, and unfortunate, that we will hear much else about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse for a while.
