Taking place three decades after the events of the original film, Blade Runner 2049 will see new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) discover an incredibly dangerous secret that could plunge society, or what’s left of it, into extreme chaos. Setting out on a mission to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) who has been missing for 30 years, he realises that this journey could be one that changes the course of history forever. A brand new trailer for the film has today been released, which you can check out below:

Denis Villeneuve directs the sequel, which also stars the likes of Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto; the latter of whom leads a villainous troupe of replicants, all intent on bringing the current way society rules to a crashing halt.

“Every leap of civilisation was built off the back of slaves,” Leto’s character explains. “Replicants are the future, but I can only make so many. I have the lock, and he has the key.”

Deckard also teases that blade runners are “being hunted”, but whether that’s by Leto’s replicants or an entirely other threat remains to be seen.

Blade Runner 2049 officially hits cinemas across the UK on October 6, 2017.
