The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has made it three weeks at the top of the UK box office.

The Desolation of Smaug has now grossed in excess of $614 million at the global box office and ends 2013 as the UK’s #1 movie.

It took a further £5.4 million this weekend to comfortably hold off the challenge from Frozen and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

Frozen was up one place to two this week, as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues fell a single place to number three.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and 47 Ronin were the only two new entries inside the top ten this week as they opened at four and five.

Walking With Dinosaurs fell two places this week at six, while The Hunger Games: Catching Fire fell just a single place at number seven.

Dhoom 3 was this week’s biggest faller, as it dropped three places from five to eight. The Harry Hill Movie also fell as it was down two places at nine.

The critically acclaimed Gravity rounded off the top ten this week as it dropped just a single place from last week’s number nine.
