The Huntsman: Winter's War Tops UK Box Office

The Huntsman: Winter's War has stormed to the top of the UK box office and ended the reign of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Huntsman: Winter's War is the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman but is set before events of the first film. The movie sees Chris Hemsworth reprise the title role while Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain complete a terrific cast list.

The movie took just over £3 million in its opening weekend to topple Dawn of Justice and hold off the challenge from Zootropolis.

Zootropolis, which is the latest film from Disney, continues to charm audiences of all ages and was up one to this week's number three.

Zootropolis has grossed over $853 million at the global box office and is, at the moment, the highest grossing film of 2016 so far - ahead of the likes of Deadpool and Dawn of Justice.

Dawn of Justice slipped two places as it ended this weekend at number three. However, the film has grossed over £30 million in the UK alone and has taken $785 million worldwide.

Eddie the Eagle is another film that has been winning over audiences but it was suffered a two place fall this week. The biopic opened at number two seven days ago but was down to four by the end of this weekend.

Kung Fu Panda 3 rounded off the top five, slipped a single place from last week's number four. Midnight Special was the second new entry as the sci-fi film opened at number six. The movie sees Jeff Nichols back in the director's chair since the critical success of Mud.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 and 10 Cloverfield Lane were both two place fallers as they ended the weekend at seven and eight.

London Has Fallen was down one at nine while Hardcore Henry was the third and final new entry in at ten.
