The Martian Still The Top Movie At U.S. Box Office

The Martian continues to perform well at the U.S. box office as it remains the #1 film at the end of the weekend.

There have been a couple of big new entries that have not performed as well as expected by The Martian continues to rake in the cash.

The Ridley Scott directed film has not only won over the critics, but it has now grossed in excess of $428 million at the global box office.

Goosebumps and Bridge of Spies were also non-movers this week as they both stayed put at two and three - both movies are yet to hit the big screen in the UK.

Hotel Transylvania 2 was the only movie on the up this week as it jumped a single place from five to number four. Hotel Transylvania 2 is on course to be another big animation success for 2015 as it has already grossed over $373 million worldwide.

Burnt was the highest new entry inside the top ten as it opened at number five. The movie marks the return of Bradley Cooper to the big screen, but the film could only manage just over $5 million in its opening weekend on release.

Cooper takes on the role of a chef trying to turn his life around as he teams up with filmmaker John Wells. Sienna Miller, Omar Sy and Daniel Bruhl are also on the cast list.

The Last Witch Hunter was down two places at number six this week, while Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension fell from six to number seven.

Our Brand is Crisis, which stars Sandra Bullock, Billy Bob Thornton, and Anthony Mackie, was the second and final new entry inside the top ten as it opened at number eight.

Crimson Peak was down one spot at nine and Steve Jobs rounded off the top ten. The Danny Boyle directed biopic fell three places from last week's number seven.
