The Neon Demon has caused quite a stir at Cannes and split critics and audiences - which is quite possibly the reaction that director Nicolas Winding Refn was looking for.

The Neon Demon

The Neon Demon

Refn is no stranger to whipping up a storm with his movies... and he has done it again with his latest feature. The Neon Demon is his first film since Only God Forgives and sees him on writing duties as well as in the director's chair.

The brand new trailer for the film has arrived and we have it for you to take a look at:

The Neon Demon is set to mix elements of horror and thriller as Elle Fanning takes up the central role of aspiring model Jesse; this marks the first time that the actor has worked with the filmmaker.

The movie sees Refn reunite with actress Christina Hendricks, with whom he worked with on Drive; she is set to take on the role of Jan in the film.

Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Bella Heathcote, Karl Glusman, and Keanu Reeves will also star alongside Fanning and Hendricks and complete an impressive line-up.

When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will use any means necessary to get what she has.

The Neon Demon is certainly the talk of the Cannes Film Festival but we will have to see if it goes on to scoop the Palme d'Or over the weekend.

The Neon Demon is released 8th July.
