A sequel to The Purge has been announced and will be hitting the big screen in 2014.
The Purge was a big box office success when it was released earlier this year, going on to topple Fast & Furious from the top of the U.S. box office.
The movie made $89 million at the global box office, after being made for a modest $3 million.
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions are looking to capitalise on that success, and the sequel will hit the big screen next year,
Writer and director James DeMonaco is set to return for the sequel, while producer Jason Blum will also be back.
Blum wrote on Twitter: "The Purge 2 is in development @UniversalHorror #ThePurge (sic)"
The first film followed husband and wife (played by Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey) who try to protect their family from the annual purge.
The plot for the second film has not been revealed and who will star has also not been announced.
