Tom Hiddleston has called talk of a stand-alone Loki movie as a ‘massive compliment’.

Hiddleston takes on the role for a third time in new film Thor: The Dark World, following on from the success of Thor and Avengers Assemble.

The British actor has made Loki one of the most popular Marvel characters, and fans are talking about how much they would like to see this character get his own film. However, it seems that no plans are currently in the pipeline.

Speaking to Nuts magazine the actor said:

"The idea that there could be a solo Loki film is such a massive compliment, but I can officially tell you there's no movement on any such thing.

"If it ever came around, I'd have to have a big brainstorm with [Marvel bigwig] Kevin Feige on it.

"But Loki defines himself in opposition to Thor - there is no Thor without Loki and no Loki without Thor."

Hiddleston is receiving more praise for his performance as Loki in Thor: The Dark World as he really does steal the film.

It has already been confirmed that we will not be seeing Loki in The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Kevin Feige hinted that we might not see Loki back on the big screen until a third Thor film; should that project go ahead.

Thor: The Dark World has already taken over $109 million this weekend in the thirty territories that it has been released. It will be hitting the big screen in the U.S. at the end of the week.

So far, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avenger: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man are the Marvel films set for release or about to go into production.

Thor: The Dark World is out now.
