Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as Lorraine and Ed Warren respectively, for the seventh instalment in the Conjuring universe with The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Horror junkies, strap in; it looks like it’s going to be one heck of a ride.
In a stunning yet spooky trailer released earlier today (April 22nd, 2021), fans of the James Wan horror series got their first proper look at what they should expect when the film series makes its return to the big screen.

Though they have been through unimaginable and distressing things already, even Lorraine and Ed are shocked by the sensational case that will join the ranks of their files, in The Devil Made Me Do It.
They kick things off in a struggle for a young boy's soul, but are then taken beyond anything they'd ever seen before, marking the first time in American history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defence for their crimes.
What’s clear from the trailer and the small details woven through the synopsis, is that this picture will be unlike any we’ve seen from the Conjuring universe so far.
Sure, there will be your usual jump scares and the like, but this could be the most in-depth and compelling narrative to have been created in a Conjuring release.
The Curse of La Llorona's Michael Chaves returns to the director's chair for this feature-film, directing not only the always-brilliant Farmiga and Wilson, but a talented cast that also includes Ruairi O'Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook and Julian Hilliard.
As for the creative team, a screenplay was put together by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, from a story he co-wrote with James Wan, based on characters created by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes.
Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Victoria Palmeri, Michael Clear, Judson Scott and Michelle Morrissey all serve as executive producers.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will be released nationwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, with a release date being planned for later this year.

James Wan wanted The Conjuring 3 to be different from the first two movies.
The 43-year-old filmmaker has stepped back as director for the upcoming horror flick but is producing and writing the story, and revealed that he was keen to move on from the haunted house set-up.
