Based on the book of the same name by Charles Willeford, The Burnt Orange Heresy is a drama thriller directed by Giuseppe Capotondi from a screenplay by Scott Smith.

Originally released back in 2019 in the United States, the film will finally see its UK and Ireland release this October.

Elizabeth Debicki and Claes Bang lead the cast, playing disgraced art critic James Figueras and enigmatic American Berenice Hollis respectively.

The two meet in Milan, where Figueras now spends his days lecturing tourists about art history. It doesn't take long for the pair to realise their chemistry is undeniable, with romance certainly on the cards.

Despite finding a new glimmer of hope, another opportunity arises when wealthy art dealer Joseph Cassidy - played by Mick Jagger - summons Figueras to his Lake Como villa.

Whilst there, he's given the opportunity to not only turn his life around by speaking to legendary but reclusive artist Jerome Debney (Donald Sutherland), but to make some weighty cash, when Cassidy asks him to steal a painting from Debney's archives.

With a better future in mind, Figueras soon weaves a web that he may find he cannot escape; all whilst bringing his new love along for the ride.

Check out the extended trailer for the film below:

Bang is best known for playing the lead role in 2017 movie The Square, for which he won the European Film Award for Best Actor.

He later took the role of Sasha Mann in the final season of critically-acclaimed Showtime series The Affair, starring alongside Dominic West and Ruth Wilson.

All of this, before taking on the titular role in Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat's mini-series, Dracula.

Debicki meanwhile, shot to fame after taking home the AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, thanks to her memorable performance in 2013 release The Great Gatsby.

Since then, she has enjoyed roles in TV shows such as The Night Manager and The Crown, as well as movies including Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 and animated family-favourite, Peter Rabbit.

As for Jagger and Sutherland? Well, surely they need no introduction. Each have enjoyed lengthy careers in showbusiness, refusing to let their star die down despite the years that go by.

The Burnt Orange Heresy opens at cinemas in the UK and Ireland on October 30th, 2020.
