As one of the most popular and talented female artists of all time, Whitney Houston was a woman that many thought they knew inside out. Her battles with addiction and her troubled home life was something well documented, but what the majority of people don’t know is that there’s a lot the singing sensation never did share with the world. Some of that’s about to change with the upcoming release of documentary picture WHITNEY, supported by the late star’s estate and including previously unheard recordings, unseen footage, and live performances throughout various stages of Houston’s life.

This week, a beautiful yet haunting teaser for the film has been released, which you can now check out below:

With Oscar-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald helming the project, he and the rest of the crew were allowed access to some incredible archives kept as part of the Houston estate, and will be bringing a lot of that – including personal home movie footage – straight into what looks to be like an essential watch for any Whitney Houston fan.

Macdonald teams with Academy Award-winning producer Simon Chinn, and his Lightbox co-founder, Emmy Award-winning producer Jonathan Chinn, as well as Happy Street Entertainment co-founder Lisa Erspamer to tell the most authentic Whitney story the world has ever seen. Patricia Houston, Nicole David, Zanne Devine, Rosanne Korenberg, Joe Patrick, and Altitude Film Entertainment’s Will Clarke, Andy Mayson, and Mike Runagall all serve as executive producers.

Taking off the polish and the varnish, viewers will see Whitney’s life as she enjoys the meteoric highs and suffers the devastating lows of one of the most unforgettable careers a superstar has ever been through.

WHITNEY comes to cinemas across the UK and Ireland on July 6, 2018.
