Academy Award-winning director Steve McQueen returns to the director’s chair for upcoming movie Widows, co-written by the filmmaker alongside best-selling author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl). Set upon the backdrop of “crime, passion and corruption”, the movie is a “modern-day thriller” and tells the story of four women who have nothing in common, except a debt left behind by the criminal activities of their dead husbands. This week, the first official trailer for the movie has been released, which you can now check out below:

Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Erivo are the four stellar actresses in charge of bringing to life the women at the centre of this story, and each look ready to take on the world in the fast-paced, chaotic teaser.

Taking their fate into their own hands and determined to live their lives the way they choose and on their own terms, they’ll work together to forge a future for the betterment of themselves; but will they be successful, or will their worlds come crashing down?

Also starring Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, Daniel Kaluuya and Brian Tyree Henry, Widows looks set to be one of the most exhilarating films of the year. Bring it on!

Widows comes to cinemas across the UK on November 9, 2018.
