Set to come to cinemas later this year is Yardie, directed by Idris Elba and starring Aml Ameen, Sheldon Shepherd, Shanton Jackson, and Stephen Graham. Following its UK premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, we’ve got our hands on a brilliant new trailer for the film, which you can now check out below:

Following the life of a young Jamaican man named D (Aml Ameen), Yardie showcases the trauma of the murder of his older brother Jerry Dread (Everaldo Creary) that took place in his younger years. Still doing his all to recover from those tragic events, he grows up under the wing of a Kingston Don and music producer called King Fox (Sheldon Shepherd).

Sent to London and meeting up with his childhood sweetheart Yvonne (Shantol Jackson), as well as his daughter who he hasn’t seen since she was a baby, he also hooks up with a soundclash crew who go by the name of High Noon.

Though the call to change his life is strong, he still needs more convincing to follow “the righteous path”, and when he comes face to face with the man who shot his brother dead a decade earlier, he instead goes on a quest for revenge and retribution, which brings him into conflict with London gangster Rico (Stephen Graham).

Yardie comes to cinemas across the UK later this year.
