The Hangover Part III

The Hangover Part III

There are a whole host of movies that will be hitting the big screen this year that we all should be super excited about. On the flip side of that there are also some films that we really aren’t looking forward to.

Yes there are some films that really are not getting our juices going not matter how many trailers or images we are treated to - and we take a look at some of them.

The Hangover Part III

I am a huge fan of The Hangover and it remains one of the best comedy movies of all time - no matter how many times you see the baby hit in the face with the car door it is still funny.

But the second film failed spectacularly to live up to the first and it was one of the biggest disappointments of 2011.

And that is really why I am not looking forward to this movie as I just don’t think it will ever recapture that something that made the original so fantastic.

I don’t want to see the same story rehashed for a third time as it does the cast and the director a great disservice. The Hangover Part III will bring this rather unexpected comedy franchise to a close... but will it go out with a bang or a whimper?

Kick Ass 2

Another film that I am not getting too excited about because of my love for the first instalment is Kick Ass 2.

Kick Ass really was a terrific movie when it was released back in 201 as Matthew Vaughn was in the director’s chair and Jane Goldman teamed up with him to pen the screenplay.

It was fast, action packed, and incredibly violent it was great to see a comic book movie be so bold and pull it all off.

But it is all change this time around as neither Vaughn nor Goldman are on writing or directing duties.

Anchorman: The Legend Continues

It was back in 20045 when Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy hit the big screen.

While I enjoyed the movie I never really bought into all of the hype - it is a good film but it is not the best comedy movie that I have ever seen.

Filming is currently underway on the sequel, a movie that looked for so long that it was never going to happen, and it will be released at the end of the year.

I am just not excited about this whatsoever as all of the projects that Will Ferrell has done with Adam McKay since the first film have been more than a little underwhelming.

Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and Steve Carell are all reprising roles but it is a film that I am just not excited about.

Grown Ups 2

I was a bit of a fan of Grown Ups - even through I do not like Adam Sandler - but there was nothing at the end of this film that suggested a sequel was needed.

Why is it every movie has to have a sequel these days? Can we not just have one film and be done with it?

Quite why there is a second film coming our way remains a mystery but Sandler, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock are all back.

I must admit there are not too many comedy films coming our way this year that excite me and this is definitely not one of them.

Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me as released back in 2010 and we were introduced to Gru and the Minions for the very first time.

The film was a box office triumph and so it doesn't come as any real surprise to see a sequel heading our way this year.

I am sorry but I just didn't like the first film and the thoughts of a second film really do not excite me in any shape or form.

Steve Carell is voicing the character of Gru once again while Jason Segel, Russell Brand and Julie Andrews have also lent their voices to the film.

300: Rise of an Empire

300 was one of the best movies of 2006 as it was not only highly entertaining but it also looked fantastic.

I am a huge fan of the film and I REALLY do not want to a sequel - seriously if there is no Gerard Butler shouting 'This is Sparta' then I don't think I want to see it.

Noam Murro is in the director's chair this time around while Eva Green and Rodrigo Santoro is on the cast list.

Other movies that I really could do without this year include Scary Movie 5, Paranormal Activity 5 and Evil Dead - so tired of horror classics being given a makeover.
