As well as Marvel Studios making a massive ripple in the water, Pixar has also made some pretty big announcements themselves, with both revealing news on Twitter with a very, very long chain of tweets revealing new shows, new films, and some shorts, too.

Pixar has announced a long-form animated series called Win or Lose, debuting on Disney+ in 2023. The series follows a middle-school softball team in the week leading up to their championship game – each episode is from the perspective of a different character, too.

In 2022, we will see the adorable film Turning Red, where we meet Mei – a teenage girl who, when she gets too excited (which is often for a 13-year-old), turns into a giant red panda.

Also in 2022 we will see Lightyear, a Buzz Lightyear origin story. But this is not what you are expecting. It is a film from within the Toy Story universe about the story of a space ranger and his definitive journey.

The film will be seen from the perspective of kids in that universe, so it could be that Andy from Toy Story saw this film and wanted the toy as a result. Lightyear will see its titular character Buzz voiced by Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the Marvel films.

Many wonder why Evans has been cast as Buzz, questioning if the resurfacing of a Tim Allen interview last year, in which he made remarks about using a racial slur, were a part of Disney's decision to recast the character.

Next year in 2021, we will see an original feature film called Luca. The film will follow a young boy called, you guess it, Luca - and his best friend Alberto during their remarkable summer.

Lastly for films, we will see original movie Soul. The film follows a teacher on his odd yet beautiful journey about what it means to have soul. The movie will be debuting on Disney+ on December 25th, 2020.

Also on Christmas day we will see Burrow. Burrow tells the tale of a rabbit trying to build herself the perfect home.

As for shorts, we will see Inside Pixar, Pixar Popcorn, Dug Days (following the dog Dug from Up), Cars, where we tag along with Lightning McQueen and Mater on a road trip like no other.
