Sicario

Sicario was one of the standout movies when it competed for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival this year and it is set to be one of the must see autumn movie.

We are huge fans of Emily Blunt here at FemaleFirst and Sicario sees her take on an action thriller role as she teams up with director Denis Villeneuve for the first time.

Villeneuve brought us the fantastic Prisoners back in 2013 - it really was one of the best crime thrillers of the year - and now he is back with a new crime drama that is set on the U.S./Mexico border.

It look like it is going to be an action packed ride that is full of twists and turns and full of terrific characters:

Blunt is set to take on the role of an idealistic FBI agent who is enlisted to help in the fight against drugs on the border between the U.S. and Mexico and it is set to be unlike anything that we have seen her tackle before.

Blunt is joined on the cast list Josh Brolin, Jon Bernthal and Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro

In Mexico, Sicario means hitman. In the lawless border area stretching between the U.S. and Mexico, an idealistic FBI agent [Blunt] is enlisted by an elite government task force official [Brolin] to aid in the escalating war against drugs.

Led by an enigmatic consultant with a questionable past [Del Toro], the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.

Sicario is a movie that is already surrounded in Oscar whispers and Blunt could find herself in the running for a Best Actress Oscar at the beginning of next year.

Sicario is released 6th November.
