Josh Gad has seen his star rocket over the last twelve months or so and he is set to return to the big screen this summer in Pixels.

Pixels

I don't know about you, but I think that Pixels is going to be a funny and action packed ride as we see the world attacked by a range of computer games characters... and only a handful of gamers can save the world in its hour of need.

Josh Gad is set to be one of those heroes as he takes on the role of Ludlow Lamonsoff. In this brand new video we get to meet the actor and the character as well as seeing him kicking some ass:

Pixels is set to be one of the movies not to miss this summer as Chris Columbus returns to the director's chair for the first time since Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief back in 2010.

Colubus has assembled an impressive cast list as Gad is joined by Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Monaghan, Ashley Benson, Sean Bean, and Brian Cox.

Pixels is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some time and is promises to be a very different blockbuster to what we have been enjoying so far this summer. Sadly, we are going to have to wait until the beginning of August before it hits the big screen.

As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Sandler), Will Cooper (James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Gad), and Eddie 'The Fire Blaster' Plant (Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times - at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they're going to have to do it for real.

In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults -- and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.

Gad really shot to fame when he brought the character of Olaf to life in Disney movie Frozen and we are going to be seeing plenty of his over the next year or so.

He has already completed work on My and My Shadow and is set to voice a character in Angry Birds and take on the role of Le Fou in the new live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

Pixels is released August 12th.
