Powder Room

Powder Room

Powder Room is one of the British movies to watch out for this winter as Sheridan Smith returns to the big screen.

Smith will lead an all-star cast as she teams up with director M.J. Delaney as she makes her feature film directorial debut with this project.

We have already been treated to a string of great British projects in 2013, and Powder Room looks set to continue that fine trend.

A brand new trailer for Powder Room has been released and we have it for you take a look at and wet your appetite:

Sheridan Smith has been mixing and matching film projects with TV work, and it is great see her back on the big screen with this new movie; this is her first big screen outing since the success of Quartet at the beginning of the year.

A great cast has been assembled as Smith is joined by Jamie Winstone, Kate Nash, Oona Chaplin and Riann Steele.

Smith plays Down-on-her-luck Sam, who leads us on a comedic and voyeuristic journey into the lives of a multitude of women at all stages of love and life over the course of one crazy night out. Amidst the shambles of a night on the town, she realises her life is an empty mess, coloured only by her dysfunctional, but devoted ensemble of close friends, Chanel (Winstone), Saskia (Sarah Hoare) and Paige (Steele).

She wants to grow up, but is finding it difficult. In an attempt to broaden her horizons, Sam meets up with her old college friend Michelle (Nash), who she hasn’t seen for years, and Michelle has subsequently gone to Paris, has a glamorous job, earns a lot of money, has got engaged, and is living the life that Sam aspires to and enviously follows on Facebook.

Michelle has brought her friend Jess (Oona Chaplin), who is even more intimidatingly glamorous. Sam feels inadequate and inhibited in their company, so starts telling little white lies. It all spirals out of control until she’s created an entirely fictional existence.

Sam spends her whole evening trying to stop this house of cards from falling down. Faced with some very harsh realities, can Sam remain true to herself and find a way back from rock bottom?

If you are looking for something other than a blockbuster film this December then Powder Room could well be the comedy movie for you.

Powder Room is released 6th December.
