Prisoners

Prisoners

Prisoners looks set to be one of the most powerful and dramatic movies that will be hitting the big screen this autumn, and it is one that I have personally been looking forward to for some time.

Prisoners sees Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal team up for the first time, while Denis Villeneuve is back in the director's chair.

Jackman and Gyllenhaal's central performances in the film have been lighting up the festival circuit - so much so that there is already talk of possible Oscar nominations.

The movie will be released next week and we have some fantastic clips to wet your appetite.

Prisoners is the first film for Villeneuve since he helmed Incendies back in 2011 as he brings Aaron Guzikowski's hard-hitting script to life.

Jackman plays the father of a kidnapped girl, while Gyllenhaal is set to play the detective leading the hunt to find her.

Prisoners is a movie about how family life and be torn apart and the lengths a parent will go to find their child.

A terrific cast has been assembled around Jackman and Gyllenhaal as Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo and Paul Dano will also star; this is really one of the best ensemble casts of the year.

Keller Dover is facing every parent's worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had been parked on their street.

Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect's release.

Knowing his child's life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?

The blockbuster season is well and truly over and now we are going to be treated to some fantastic drama. The Oscar films season is about to get underway and Prisoners is right in the mix.

Prisoners is released 27th September.
