David Oyelowo is set to take on the biggest role of his acting career to date next year, as he plays Martin Luther King in the highly anticipated Selma.

Oyelowo has appeared in movies such as The Butler, Jack Reacher, Lincoln, and The Paperboy in recent years, but this is set to be one of the biggest roles of his career as he teams up with director Ava DuVernay.

Selma will be the third feature film of DuVernay's directing career, and comes after I Will Follows and Middle of Nowhere.

The first trailer for the movie has arrived, and we have it for you to check it out:

Oyelowo leads an all-star cast, as Tim Roth, Cuba Gooding Jr, Tom Wilkinson, Tessa Thompson, and Giovanni Ribisi are just some of the names on board.

Selma is the story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historic struggle to secure voting rights for all people - a dangerous and terrifying campaign that culminated with the epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and led to President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

2015 is set to bring us some great biopic movies, with the likes of Foxcatcher and The Theory of Everything on the horizon, and Selma promises to be another movie in this genre that is not to be missed.

Selma looks set to be a powerful movie about the fight for equality, and I can't wait to see Oyelowo's central performance.

Selma is released 6th February 2015.
