Insidious Chapter 2

Insidious Chapter 2

September is year and it seems that we are already talking about which movies could become Oscar contenders over the next few months.

While there are no Oscar winners on the horizon over the next four weeks, there are still some fantastic films that are not to be missed.

And there is something for everyone as September is a mix of blockbusters, romantic comedy, biopic and horror; it really should keep all film fans very happy.

So we take a look at the handful of movies that are can’t, not under any circumstances, be missed.

Riddick - released 4th September

For Riddick fans it has been a long nine year wait since The Chronicles of Riddick hit the big screen, yes it really was back in 2004.

But the first week of the new month sees Vin Diesel return to his most iconic character for a third film in the sci-fi franchise.

David Twohy is back in the director’s chair, and it seems that there is more Pitch Black in this film that its predecessor.

The franchise looks like it has gone back to its dark and violent roots, as Riddick one again finds himself doing battle with mercs and something more dangerous.

Riddick is one of the movies that I have been looking forward to all year, and I can’t wait to see this character kicking some more alien ass!!

About Time - released 4th September.

There haven’t been that many great romantic comedies hitting the big screen so far this year… but all that looks set to change with the release of About Time.

Richard Curtis has written some fantastic films in this genre over the years, and he is back in the director’s chair for his third feature film.

The film follows Tim, who discovers that he can travel in time. He uses his gift to help him find a girlfriend - but everything doesn’t go according to plan.

Domhnall Gleeson takes on the role of Tim, in what is set to be the biggest role of his career so far. Rachel McAdams, Bill Nighy and Tom Hollander make up a fantastic cast list.

Rush - released 11th September

There are a whole host of biopic movies on the horizon this autumn, and Rush looks set to be one of the most exciting.

Ron Howard is back in the director’s chair as be take audiences into the world of Formula One, and the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

Chris Hemsworth is set to take on the role of Hunt, while Daniel Bruhl will play Lauda; this really was one of the best rivalries in Formula 1 history.

This is the first film for Howard since the not so great comedy The Dilemma, and it is fantastic to see him returning to a dramatic project.

So if you are looking for a fast paced movie this autumn, then look no further than Rush as it is a film that promises to have audiences on the edge of their seat.

Insidious Chapter 2 - released 13th September

James Wan has already had success this summer with horror movie The Conjuring - which remains on the of the best horror film of the year - and now he is back with Insidious Chapter 2.

The movie comes two years after the success of the first and sees James Wan back in the director’s chair.

Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne are back as Josh and Renai Lembert, who find their family is being haunted once again.

When the Lambert family are once again plagued by hauntings they set out to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.

I was a big fan of the first Insidious movie and I can’t wait to see where Wan takes this second instalment.

Diana - released 20th September.

Diana is one of the most talked about movies of the autumn as Naomi Watts takes on the role of Princess Diana in the Oliver Hirschbiegel directed film.

In a story that until now has remained untold, Diana introduces a time in the Princess’s life that was uniquely important in shaping her final years, fulfilling her search for true happiness and sealing her legacy.

The movie follows Diana as she falls in love with Dr Khan as well as showing what an interesting and complex character she was.

Watt will lead the cast - she looks simply fantastic as Diana - while Naveen Andrews will take on the role of Dr Khan.

Naturally, this will be one of the more controversial films over the coming weeks but it does look set to be an interesting watch.

Runner Runner - released 27th September

It has been a fantastic year already for Ben Affleck with Argo winning Best Picture earlier this year. But he is back with new film Runner Runner - but this is a movie that will see him just in front of the camera.

Brad Furman is in the director’s chair this time around as Justin Timberlake, Gemma Arterton and Anthony Mackie are all also on the cast list.

Princeton grad student Richie (Timberlake), believing he’s been swindled, travels to Costa Rica to confront online gambling tycoon Ivan Block (Affleck).

Richie is seduced by Block’s promise of immense wealth, until he learns the disturbing truth about his benefactor.

When the FBI tries to coerce Richie to help bring down Block, Richie faces his biggest gamble ever: attempting to outmanoeuvre the two forces closing in on him.

Other movies to watch out for include Blue Jasmine, Prisoners, White House Down, 42 and Ain’t Them Bodies Saints.
