The movie industry never sleeps and there are films being shot every day of every week... but which movies are being shot RIGHT NOW?

We take a look at some of the exciting projects that are currently in production - many of these films we really cannot wait to see. Which of these are you looking forward to the most?

- Doctor Strange - released October 28th 2016

Filming on Doctor Strange got underway at the beginning of November last year and is set to be one of the autumn movies that's not to be missed. Doctor Strange will be the second Marvel film of Phase 3 and will be the first time that we have been introduced to this character.

Scott Derrickson is in the director's chair for the film as he helms the first Marvel film of his career. The director has brought us films such as The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister and this is his first feature film since Deliver Us From Evil back in 2014.

Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the most in-demand actors around and he is set to take on the title role - I have to say, I think that this is a piece of truly perfect casting and I cannot wait to see what he delivers.

Cumberbatch is joined on the cast list by Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, and Mads Mikkelsen.

Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. We are only going to have to wait until October until the film hits the big screen and it is set to be one of the biggest autumn movies.

I am looking forward to seeing where Doctor Strange is going to fit into the Marvel Universe going forward... will we see him make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.

- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 - released 28th April 2017

Sticking with the Marvel film theme, filming on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 has also got under way recently. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is one of the most anticipated Marvel sequels after the critical and commercial success of the first movie back in 2014.

James Gunn steered that film to success and he is back in the director's chair and on writing duties this time around - I am glad to see him back as he did such a terrific job on that first film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is set to be the first of three Marvel films to hit the big screen in 2017 - followed by Spider-Man and Thor: Ragnarok - I really does look set to be the biggest.

Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are back as Peter Quill, Gamora, Draz, Rocket and Groot but the big new additions are yet to be revealed. Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell are just two actors who have been linked to the movie.

While Gunn has been giving fans little teasers of what to expect on social media, the plot is being kept under wraps for now. However, it looks like it is going to explore Peter Quill's parentage.

The first film grossed over $773 million at the global box office in 2014 and is currently the fourth highest grossing Marvel film of all time, behind Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Iron Man 3. There is still no word on whether we will see some of these great characters turn up in Avengers: Infinity War.

- Star Wars: Episode VIII - released 15th December 2017

You may have heard of a little film called Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which performed reasonably well at the box office at the end of last year... filming has already got under way on the highly anticipated sequel.

Yes, J.J. Abrams and co breathed new life into the Star Wars franchise with The Force Awakens and Episode VIII looks set to continue that story.

While Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, and Adam Driver will be some of the now familiar faces returning, it is all change in the director's chair as Rian Johnson takes over from Abrams.

This will be the fourth feature film of Johnson's directing career and his first since the success of Looper back in 2012. As well as being in the director's chair, Johnson has also penned the film's screenplay - as you may expect, they are giving nothing away about the plot at this time.

The Force Awakens is only the third film in cinema history to gross over $2 billion at the box office - following in the footsteps of Avatar and Titanic. I think it is fair to say that Episode VIII will be just as successful.

The bad news is that we are going to have to wait until December 2017 until it hits the big screen. However, we are going to see spin-off Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at the end of this year.

- Kong: Skull Island - released 10th March 2017

Tom Hiddleston is an actor who is currently whipping up a storm on the small screen with TV series The Night Manager, however, we are going to be seeing plenty of him on the big screen this year and next.

The British actor is currently filming Kong: Skull Island, an action film that is centred on the King Kong orgins. Nothing much more is known about the plot at this time.

Filming is still under way on the project as Jordan Vogt-Roberts makes his return to the director's chair. Kong: Skull Island is the second live-action feature of his career and comes four years since he made his debut with The Kings of Summer. Needless to say, this will be the biggest film of his directing career to date.

The director has assembled a terrific cast list as Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman, Samuel L. Jackson, Toby Kebbell, and John C. Reilly are all on board.

Filming kicked off back in October and has shot in Hawaii, Australia and Vietnam in the last few months.

We are big fans of Hiddleston here at FemaleFirst and 2017 is set to be another big year for the actor with this and Thor: Ragnarok set to hit the big screen.

- Moana - released 2nd December 2016

2016 will be a major treat for any Disney fans are we are going to be treated to two films from the studio. Zootropolis is up first and them Moana will hit the big screen at the end of the year.

Work on Moana is still under way and will be the fifty-sixth film from the animation giant. It will be the first time since 2002 that the studio has released two features in the same year.

The movie sees Ron Clements and John Musker reunite in the director's chair for their first Disney film since The Princess and the Frog - it is good to see them back.

The movie is going to introduce us to the acting talents of Auli'i Cravalho, as she is set to voice the title character. Dwayne Johnson and Alan Tudyk will join the young actress on the cast list.

Moana is an adventure about a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and fulfil her ancestors' unfinished quest. During her journey, Moana (Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui (Johnson), and together, they traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds.

it has been a hugely successful couple of years for Disney with Frozen and Big Hero 6 enjoying critical, commercial, and awards success and 2016 is going to see the studio deliver a couple more terrific family films. Of the two movies coming our way this year, Moana is the one that I am looking forward to the most.

- Wonder Woman - released 23rd June 2017 in U.S.

We haven't even been introduced to the new Wonder Woman and a solo film is already in production - in fact, cameras started rolling on the project back in November.

We are going to see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman for the first time in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the end of the month - she is going to be one of the big new additions to the D.C. Comic world movies.

Warner Bros has wasted no time on starting work on a solo film and we are also going to see the character in the upcoming Justice League film. Gal Gadot is no stranger to the big screen with the likes of the Fast & Furious franchise under her belt, but the role fo Wonder Woman really will send her star rocketing over the next couple of years.

The movie sees Patty Jenkins in the director's chair and it is great to see a female filmmaker at the helm of a major comic book movie. This is only the second feature film for Jenkins and comes over a decade since she made her debut with Monster.

Another terrific cast has been assembled as Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Lucy Davis, and Ewan Bremner are all on board.

Wonder Woman is the first female-led comic book movie since the release of Elektra back in 2005 and it will be interesting to see how this film performs at the box office.

- The Snowman - released 2017

Michael Fassbender is another actor who has had a busy couple of years with Steve Jobs hitting the big screen and X-Men: Apocalypse, Assassin's Creed and The Light Between Oceans on the horizon. However, it seems that there is no rest for the actor as he is already off filming new project The Snowman.

The Snowman is a big screen adapatation of the novel by Jo Nesbø and sees Tomas Alfredson in the director's chair. Alfredson has brought us movies such as Tinker Tailor Solider Spy and Let the Right One In in recent years and this will be his first collaboration with Fassbender.

Fassbender is set to take on the central role of detective Harry Hole and is joined on the cast list by J.K. Simmons, Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer, Chloe Sevigny, James D'Arcy, Toy Jones, and Charlotte Gainsbourg.

The movie is set to follow detective Harry Hole as he investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominous looking snowman.

Filming got under way in January in Norway and is the latest Nebso film to get the big screen treatment - following on from the success of Headhunters.

- Collateral Beauty - released 30th December 2016

Kate Winslet is one of the best actresses of her genreation and she has already had a very busy 2016. Not only have we seen her star in Triple 9, but she has starting filming her latest movie Collateral Beauty.

Collateral Beauty sees Winslet team up with Will Smith for the first time while Keira Knightley, Helen mirren, Edward Norton, Naomie Harris, and Michael Pena make up a terrific and exciting cast list.

The movie also marks the return of David Frankel to the director's chair. Frankel has brought us films such as The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me in recent years and this is the first feature since One Chance back in 2013.

Collateral Beauty will see the director team up with Winslet and Smith for the first time. The film follows a New York ad man who, after tragic events, finds himself on a downward spiral.

The movie will not hit the big screen in the UK until December and filming got under way in February in New York.

Other movies shooting right now include xXx: The Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel, Miss Sloane starring Jessica Chastain, Baywatch with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, and Hidden Figures with Kirsten Dunst and Kevin Costner.
