Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes is one of the most versatile actors around, moving from drama to blockbusters and acting to directing in the blink of an eye.

He is back in the director's chair this week with The Invisible Woman; a movie that also sees him take on the role of Charles Dickens.

The Invisible Woman kicks off a busy year for Fiennes, as he is set to move between film and television projects.

The Invisible Woman is the second directorial outing for Fiennes; he made his debut back in 2012 with Coriolanus, and a big screen adaptation of the book by Claire Tomalin.

Fiennes will take on the role of Charles Dickens, in a film that follows his secret affair with a young woman.

This is another very assured directorial outing for Fiennes, as he has delivered an incredibly beautiful film, which is packed with wonderful performances.

For the rest of 2014, we are going to be seeing Fiennes concentrate on his acting with a whole host of different roles.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is the first of those roles, as he teams up with director Wes Anderson for the first time.

Fiennes will lead an all-star cast, which includes Adrien Brody, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton and Jude Law.

The Grand Budapest Hotel recounts the adventures of Gustave, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend; Fiennes will take on the role of Gustave.

The movie has already been playing well on the festival circuit, and promises to be another success for Anderson.

Fiennes has also completed work on Two Women: a big screen adaptation of the play by Ivan Turgenev.

Vera Glagoleva is in the director's chair for the film, while Sylvie Testud and Larisa Malevannaya are also on the cast list.

We are also going to be seeing Fiennes on the small screen, as he has finished work on a couple of TV movies; Turks & Caicos and Salting the Battlefield.

Both films will see Fiennes star alongside Helena Bonham Carter and Bill Nighy, while David Hare is in the director's chair. These films follow on from Page Eight, and will see Nighy reprise the role of MI5 spy Johnny Worricker.

Bond 24 is already one of the most anticipated films of 2015, and filming is expected to get underway this year.

Skyfall saw Fiennes introduced as Gareth Mallory, and he is expected to reprise that role in the upcoming film.

The Invisible Woman is released 7th February in London and 21st nationwide.
