La La Land is a movie that is already being tipped as a potential early Oscar contender as Damien Chazelle returns to the director's chair.

La La Land

Chazelle is one of the most exciting filmmakers around and this is his first feature film since the huge critical, commercial and awards success that he had with Whiplash last year.

As well as being in the director's chair, Chazelle has also penned the film's screenplay.

La La Land sees Ryan Gosling reunite with Emma Stone for their third film together and their first since Gangster Squad - I am thrilled to see them working together once again. Stone and Gosling may have worked together in the past, but they are both collaboration with Chazelle for the first time.

And we get to hear Stone's lovely singing voice in this fantastic new trailer. Take a look:

The director has brought together and impressive cast as John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, Finn Wittrock, Callie Hernandez, Sonoya Mizuno, Jessica Rothe, Tom Everett Scott, and Josh Pence all star alongside Stone and Gosling.

La La Land tells the story of Mia [Stone], an aspiring actress, and Sebastian [Gosling], a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.

Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.

La La Land is a film that we are going to be seeing on the festival circuit a lot as we head into the autumn and it really is looking like a major Oscar contender. Will we see it in the Best Picture mix? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.

I have to admit, I am already quietly confident that we are going to see it in the mix come the beginning of 2017.

La La Land is coming to UK cinemas soon.
