Douglas Booth

Douglas Booth is a British actor who is on the rise, and he will be returning to the big screen this week as he stars in a new adaptation of Romeo and Juliet.

Booth will take on the role of Romeo in the film alongside Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld and director Carlo Carlei.

Booth kicked off his acting career back in 2006 with small roles in movies Hunters of the Kahri and From Time To Time.

But it was TV film Worried About The Boy that proved to be a breakthrough performance for the young actor.

The film saw Booth take on the role of Boy George, the movie focused on the early part of his music career and the relationships in his life.

In the following years Booth enjoyed success on the small screen with The Pillars of the Earth, Christopher and his Kind and Great Expectations all under his belt.

Great Expectations was a three part mini-series from the BBC, and saw Booth take on the central role of Pip.

Based on the Charles Dickens novel and also saw Ray Winstone, Gillian Anderson and David Suchet on the cast list.

Romeo and Juliet is the biggest movie role of Booth's career so far, and it is looks set to be another major breakthrough moment. Julian Fellowes has adapted Shakespeare's greatest play while Carlei put his own stamp on this well known tale.

Romeo and Juliet kicks off a busy period for Booth as we are going to see him appear in a series of exciting projects over the next year: he really is someone to keep an eye on over the coming months.

Noah is set to be one of the films of early 2014 not to miss as Darren Aronofsky returns to the director's chair for this biblical epic.

Russell Crowe is set to take on the role of Noah, while Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Hopkins are all also on the cast list.

Booth is set to take on the role of Shem, Noah's son in this highly anticipated film.

Booth has also completed work on Posh and Jupiter Ascending: the latter sees him team up with Andy and Lana Wachowski for this new adventure/sci-fi project.

The actor is currently working on Geography of the Heart, a film about love and intimacy.

There is a fantastic crop of young British actors who are starting to make a name for themselves, and Douglas Booth is one of them. He has some exciting films on the horizon and has the potential to be a real star.

Romeo and Juliet is released 11th October.
