Welcome To New York

Altitude Film Distribution will release Abel Ferrara’s highly controversial Welcome to New York in the UK and Ireland on Friday 8 August with a multi-platform release.

Welcome to New York is the story of Mr Devereaux (Gerard Depardieu); a powerful man who controls billions of dollars every day.

A man who controls the economic fate of nations. A man who dreams of saving the world and who cannot save himself. A terrified man. A lost man. Watch him fall.

Welcome to New York will receive its UK premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on 21 June.
Directed and co-written by Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant, King of New York), Depardieu (Mesrine, Life of Pi) gives a powerhouse performance alongside Jacqueline Bisset and the film made international news headlines when it premiered out of competition during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The audacious high profile screening and press conference with Ferrara, Depardieu and Bisset was a one of the hottest tickets in Cannes and the film’s groundbreaking simultaneous video on demand release in France generated over 100,000 transactions in its first week, setting a new standard for digital film distribution.

"Welcome to New York’s enormous success as a digital release in France is exactly the reason why we at Altitude are exploring, when appropriate, new ways for audiences to access film," said Hamish Moseley, Head of Distribution at Altitude Film Distribution.

"There’s no question that the film distribution market is evolving and we look forward to working closely with all of our partners on continuing Welcome to New York’s success on this side of the channel."
