Robyn

Next week sees the long awaited release of long standing Swedish artist and producer Christian Falk’s anthem in waiting, the gorgeous, melancholy ‘Dream On’.

Taken from Falk’s ‘People Say’ album this laidback, string laden musical masterpiece is a beautiful pop record featuring Robyn’s gorgeous haunting vocals.

Anyone who has seen Robyn live will recognise ‘Dream On’ as it’s long been one of the highlights of her show. Robyn has had incredible success in the UK with her eponymous album which has now reached gold status selling over 250,000 copies, including last summer’s No.1 smash, ‘With Every Heartbeat’. She’s currently tearing it up across Europe supporting the mighty Madonna, the only artist support on the whole tour.

Falk began his musical career in the eighties as a member of Sweden’s biggest rock band at the time, Imperiet. He went on to become a renowned producer who through the nineties worked with everyone from Puff Daddy, The Notorious B.I.G, Neneh Cherry and Youssou N’Dour. He released his first solo album ‘Quel Bordel’ in 1999 and its follow up ‘People Say’ in 2006. Falk is no stranger to the UK charts, in 2000 his debut record ‘Make It Right’ became a dancefloor classic.

Whilst the original version is produced by Falk and mixed by Jeremy Wheatley (AlphaBeat, Sam Sparro, Duffy), the remix package tweaks it in all the right places...Moto Blanco take the track and turn up the heat with a funky house remix that pushes all the right buttons for some serious commercial club and radio play. Legendary house producer and Xpress 2 member Ashley Beedle goes down a more disco route, with some rolling percussion and old skool piano vibes, whilst German techno outfit Tiger Stripes add a dreamy, melodic twist to proceedings. Finally Virgo, one of the leading producers and DJ’s on the rapidly growing Bassline scene turns in a bump ‘n grind mix that flips mid-track into a wobbling bass heavy monster for maximum damage.

‘Dream On’ will be released on Ministry Of Sound’s dance imprint Data Records. The label has a proven track history including 5 #1’s, 16 Top 5’s and 22 Top 10 hits with a total combined sales in excess of 7 million singles. They have just recently released their 200th single, Eric Prydz’s ‘Pjanoo’ which reached # 2 in the UK charts.

'Dream On's lyrics are by default an eerily poignant social commentary on today’s ‘broken Britain’ where street crime is spiralling out of control, alcohol and drug dependency are on the rise. Falk and Robyn capture this beautifully whilst providing a thought provoking slice of pop brilliance.
