The world of music never fails to impress, surprise and bring out new talent that we haven't heard much of in the past.

This year has been no different, and choosing just five of the best tracks released in 2014 to-date was a toughie.

However, if your ears haven't been blessed by the sounds of any of the following, get listening sooner rather than later.

Clean Bandit - 'Rather Be' featuring Jess Glynne

Breaking out became a major thing for Clean Bandit as their collaboration with Jess Glynne was suddenly being played on radio stations all over the world, shooting them to very much-deserved stardom.

Sam Smith - 'Stay With Me'

He was the Critic's Choice at last year's BRIT Awards and he hasn't failed to deliver some fantastic tunes with his debut solo album. This most recent single is a haunting ballad and it's clear that Sam sings through emotion and experience.

Indiana - 'Solo Dancing'

This is one of those songs that will stick with you for some time once you've finished listening. It may not immediately jump out as being something you need to listen to repeatedly, but it's certainly one you'll be going back to a day or so later, wanting a second dose of the magic Indiana possesses. Massive things should be on the horizon for her.

Iggy Azalea - 'Fancy' featuring Charli XCX

Proving that there's room in the female rap genre for more than just Nicki Minaj, Iggy has captivated and scored a whole host of fans since her debut and this track is really something special. The collaboration is genius and the infectious chorus should have you singing along in no time.

Gorgon City - 'Ready For Your Love' featuring MNEK

Able to get you in the mood for some sun (soon, please!), this is a party anthem and just the beginning of what I'm expecting will be an illustrious career for Gorgon City.

What's your favourite single of 2014 right now?
