Black Eyed Peas

Black Eyed Peas

There is no way I can be standing in a nightclub (after a glass of wine or two) and not dance to this Black Eyed Peas song.. I don’t know what it is, it’s as though Paul McKenna has drifted into my ears and is whispering ‘dance, dance, dance.’ and away I go.

Released on May 21, 2009, I’ve got to admit, it’s one of only a few songs that I actually like by the BEP’s…. I’m not exactly a fan of the band to say the least. But surely me picking them as my song of the year makes up for my past digs?

When it entered the charts, it actually debuted at number two behind their own (ridiculously annoying) single Boom Boom Pow on the week of June 27 on both the Canadian and Billboard Hot 100 charts, making the group one of only eleven artists who have occupied the top two positions at the same time on the Billboard Hot 100.

Luckily for them, their new song eventually replaced their old song at Number One, and in fact, it made Number 1 on twenty charts worldwide as well as longest-running Number 1 single on the US Pop Charts. Whoopee!

I’m pretty sure that I will be dancing to this at least 20 times over the coming festive season… I’ve got a feeling, that tonight’s going to be a good night…
