Everything I Do (I Do It For You)

Everything I Do (I Do It For You)

Bryan Adams has single-handedly produced some of the greatest songs of all time throughout his career and there is little doubt that Everything I Do (I Do It For You) is one of the special few. As with many of the great songs over the years; it gained phenomenal success from its status as the title track from the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves.

The song is credited to Bryan Adams, Mutt Lange, and Michael Kamen, and is played over the film's credits, which is odd as, despite being stuck at the tail end of the film, it went on to be a massive hit all over the world and stayed at the number one spot for an unprecedented amount of time.

The track topped the charts in thirty countries and became the biggest selling record of 1991. In the US, the song sat at number one for seven weeks and sold three million copies and across the pond in the UK, it sold over 1.5 million copies, and became the best selling record in the UK since Band Aid in 1984; unsurprisingly then, it is one of the best-selling singles of all time

The song also broke the record for the most consecutive weeks on top of the United Kingdom charts, with 16 weeks at number one from 7 July 1991.

Elsewhere in Europe, the song reached number one in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, France, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark and the overall success of the single led to pre-order sales of a million for Bryan's album, Waking up the Neighbours throughout Europe.

In total, the album went on to sell a total 15 million copies around the world due, in part to Everything I Do and it is almost certainly believed this this song has a huge part to play in his commercial success.
