Nicole Fermie

Nicole Fermie

To see Nicole Fermie play for the first time is a moment you’ll never forget. She exudes an infectious energy and displays a breath-taking mastery of both voice and guitar.

Her’s is a unique musical style evolved from an eclectic multi-cultural heritage: Born to Indian parents and brought up in Vienna, Nicole was educated at International School and classically trained on piano.

Arriving to study at Bath University she instantly made waves in the local live scene in a number of bands. Her song writing stepped up a gear and she was soon honing these skills with her own band. Her singing talent has not gone unnoticed by Goldfrapp who asked her in to do backing vocals.

By 2006 things started to move at pace… a demo of voice and acoustic guitar recorded in a friend’s lounge… a chance introduction to producer Tim Oliver (Happy Mondays, Stone Roses)…. signing to his label Top Cat Music… developing her band sound at Helium, the studio he shares with producer Chris Hughes (Adam and the Ants, Tears For Fears) in Box, Wiltshire… the Taxi EP… the album to follow in the New Year.

“I’ve heard thousands of demos and rarely if ever does one pluck all the right strings, so to hear one that does just that on my own doorstep was a once in a lifetime.” - Tim Oliver
