Bryan Adams’ 1984 hit Summer of ‘69 has been found to be the UK’s favourite summer song of all time in a survey for Sagatiba, narrowly beating Mungo Jerry’s In the Summertime, legendary hit Summer of ‘69 topped the poll with 22% of the vote.

The survey reveals that the UK prefer artists’ back catalogues for their favourite summer songs, leaving chart sensations such as Pixie Lott and Rihanna eclipsed by music legends such as Bryan Adams, Wham and The Beach Boys.

Surveyors asked credit-crunched Brits what they will be doing to lift their spirits this summer, and the survey revealed that 60% will listen to music to improve their moods.

Pop and Brazilian samba were voted the two most uplifting musical genres, taking 60% of the vote, and almost half of those surveyed said a great song defines their summer.

The following eclectic mix of pop and rock hits emerged as the Nation’s Top 10 Summertime hits:
