Leona Lewis may have parted ways with Simon Cowell last year, but that doesn't mean she isn't able to come back with a huge new single that she's clearly hoping will make a statement.

Released officially on June 7, 'Fire Under My Feet' is the first track to be lifted from forthcoming studio album 'I Am', and fans can now listen to the song via Leona's Soundcloud account.

Going into this new era of her career, Leona's showing off her vocal prowess once more and proving she's still a force to be reckoned with despite no longer having the backing of Syco.

The singer co-wrote the song alongside Toby Gad, and during a recent live performance those watching her were treated to a piano version of the tune.

This will be the first single Leona releases through her new label Island Records, with company head Darcus Beese recently saying that he's hoping for an "ambitious" campaign that reaches people globally following her signing with Def Jam in the States.

Leona's new record is the follow-up to her 2012 release 'Glassheart', though a Christmas collection was released in 2013.
