Haim collected six nominations

The shortlist for the 2014 NME Awards has been revealed, with Arctic Monkeys and Haim leading the charge with eight and six nominations respectively.

Main awards include Best Solo Artist which sees newcomer Lorde amongst Jake Bugg and Lily Allen, and Best New Band where the incomparable Chvrches have found themselves a nod.

Aside from these, other awards include Best TV Show where Breaking Bad will fight it out against Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Fresh Meat, Doctor Who and Misfits, and the likes of One Direction and The Wanted don't miss out on nominations - but in the Worst Band category.

Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke are also shortlisted, with their names finding a place in the Villain of the Year category along with Harry Styles, Vladamir Putin and David Cameron.

Is Miley Cyrus the biggest villain of 2013?

The event takes place on February 26 at the O2 Academy in Brixton.
