Combining collective expertise from label relations and its data insights team with factors Spotify observed such as each track's streaming activity and performance on the viral chart, the service also took the 'feel-good nature' of each track into consideration, as summer tunes tend to contain positive lyrics while being upbeat.

Further standouts include dance music from Zedd, Avicii, Jack U and Major Lazer whilst chart toppers Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo, Pitbull, OMI, Walk The Moon and Fetty Wap also make their way onto the list.

A new song from Carly Rae Jepsen is included and newcomers making their presence felt include Jess Glynne, Alessia Cara, Grace and Leon Bridges.

Spotify's resident music trends expert Shanon Cook commented: "Summer is about good vibes, good times and great music. This playlist serves as the ultimate soundtrack to your summer, from party tunes to road-trip jams to BBQ bangers. And for those moments when you're relaxing by the pool, we urge you to take in a few newcomers on the scene, like Alessia and Leon; their songs are heating up!"
