With an insistent sound come three lads whose debut single takes aim at the current sombre attitude of fiscal belt tightening and announces that it's time to Kick in the Doors.
From clarion call intro to atmospheric fade, this all attitude post punk/power pop debut single sets a hectic pace and makes a statement of intent from a guitar driven trio who are determined to be anything other than members of a lost generation.
Produced by Sam Williams (Plan B, Supergrass) Kick in the Doors is a great introduction to the sound of Ian Budd (Bass & Vocals), Nick Breakspear (Guitar & Vocals) and Mark Franklin (Drums & Vocals) who have built up solid tastemaker support as well as an enthusiastic fan base on a vibrant and competitive Oxford music scene - recently sighted by the Guardian as a current hot bed of new music in the UK.
Radio support for Kick in the Doors has already come from BBC Introducing Oxfordshire and Black Hats have previously received support from BBC 6Music (Tom Robinson) for previous unreleased tracks. Oxford's respected music journal Nightshift has sighted Black Hats as 'ahead of the current crop.'
The band's debut mini album Austerity for the Hoi Polloi features follow up single Impossible View plus another Sam Williams produced track Death by Record.
